Mission & History

CUE Art Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization dedicated to promoting culture by supporting the creativity of under-recognized artists through offering comprehensive arts education programming for artists and students, and interdisciplinary arts events for public audiences.

Each year, CUE exhibits the work of eight to fifteen under-recognized artists through its solo, group, and open call exhibitions. The Solo Exhibition Program follows a unique selection process. Members of CUE's Curatorial Advisory Council meet annually to select six to eight curators from amongst their peers. Each curator selects an artist that he or she deems deserving of the significant exposure that the exhibition at CUE will provide. The only requirements are that the artist has had no solo exhibitions in a commercial venue within the past ten years and does not currently have commercial gallery representation. CUE places no restrictions on media, content, or style. This democratic and pluralistic process results in a diverse array of richly varied works.

CUE's programs include:

History

CUE was founded by a group of visionary and entrepreneurial art enthusiasts who wanted to showcase a diverse spectrum of visual artists in New York City. Their passion for art came about in very personal ways. Some witnessed friends and relatives struggle to gain recognition as artists, while others had a lifetime of art experiences that profoundly shaped their outlook on life and their desire to witness art activity as it happens. In eight years, CUE’s founders have developed an institution where artists can make and exhibit their work, learn skills that strengthen their careers and expose thousands of people from around the world to new art without curatorial bias or commercial constraint.
