jumpstART I
About
jumpstART I is a semester-long, program that takes place in the Fall, aiming to prepare High School students for applying and entering higher education in the arts. Through focusing on technical skills such as writing artist statements, thematic development, professional and public presentation, while at the same time providing on-site development of core artistic techniques, jumpstART I gives each student a competitive edge in the college application process. By the end of each semester, students will have a professional, well-coordinated portfolio and the skills necessary to enter art school with success. Each student will have completed: an artist statement, still-life painting, self-portrait, collaborative sculpture, artistic research in their sketchbooks, and numerous observational drawings. Students who have successfully completed the jumpstART I program can by recommendation move on to jumpstART II in the Spring.
How to Participate
The program is open to 11th and 12th graders who will be considered only through recommendation by a mentor or teacher and the completion of the application process. Click here to download an application.
