jumpstART II is an educational 12-week intensive after-school program run annually in the Spring. Each class targets 10 to 15 students with an aptitude and demonstrated interest in the visual arts. Under the guidance of dedicated arts educators in an on-site classroom, students receive fine arts training, as well as learn practical business and soft skills through the process of conceiving, organizing and curating their own exhibition. At the same time they are independently creating their own artwork for the exhibit, students work together as a team with the goal of promoting the exhibition, not just in their local communities but in the larger New York community as well. jumpstART II gives participants the opportunity to work closely with artists, designers, printers, curators and arts administrators-giving students exposure to the broad spectrum of career opportunities in the arts, while obtaining key skills that will be applicable to all aspects of their artistic, educational and career lives.

The Spring 2010 jumpstART II participants will exhibit their group show May 18 - May 22, 2010 at CUE. The opening reception will be onTuesday, May 18th from 6:00-8:00pm.
